DRIVER:I LET 50 OFF 7/7 BUS

THE driver of the bombed No30 bus unwittingly saved the lives of many of his passengers by advising them to get off moments before the blast, the 7/7 inquest heard yesterday.

Up to 50 stepped from the double-decker as it inched through traffic gridlocked by the chaotic aftermath of the three Tube explosions.

Greek-born George Psaradakis, 54, told the hearing his Stagecoach service from Marble Arch to Hackney Wick was forced into detours by police cordons.
He said: "Something bad was happening. I could hear sirens but I was a million miles away.
"I could not imagine we were at the epicentre of a terrorist attack."
He reached Tavistock Square but did not know where he was. He asked a traffic warden so he could radio his controllers and ask them to plot a new route.
